Best offal cut around!
Known as “Coos Wag” in this part of the world, oxtail makes for delicious soup or sumptious stews! As with most offal cuts, Oxtails need long slow cooking to make the most of the texture and flavour.
Slow cooked produced a wonderful oxtail soup.
Very tasty and comforting on a cold winters day.
I cooked the oxtail and ox kidney in a casaroll dish on low heat for 2 1/2 hours added 2 cubes of oxo gravy carrot, turnips all cut fairly large. I also put in some dumplings (3) I served red cabbage
I made a large pot of oxtail stew, ate half and froze half to enjoy with buttery mash and veg. Delicious.
I made a Jamie Oliver stew this weekend. Slow cooked for 5 hours and it was delicious. The oxtail was fabulous and I will be buying again and again
Made a fab scrummy casserole with carrots, shallots and a bottle of beer -left in slow cooker for a few hours- shall be ordering this again as part of my next order!!
