The new season venison is now available. We source only wild venison from the Cairngorm and North West Coast areas of Scotland. It is a natural and healthy meat as well as being packed full of flavour.
Stags are available now and the taste of them is fantastic. The meat does get a bit stronger as we get later into the year but many people like that.
Hinds are available after the New Year and at the start of the year the meat is extremely tender. As the season wears onto March, the meat becomes a bit gamier - great flavour but can be an aquired taste!
At Macbeth's, we have a full range of venison cuts to suit everybody (and if there is something that you would like that you do not see on our website, then please ring us and we will do our best to cater for you.)
If you are new to venison, I would suggest that you maybe try either our venison sausages, venison burgers, or venison escallops (or all three). They are all an extremely easy introduction to venison.
If you are looking for a roast, then our venison haunch is ideal and the saddle is just sublime. The saddle has the advantage in that you can also cut steaks from it if you wished.
For versatility we have diced venison for stews and casseroles whilst the mince makes a great alternative to beef steak mince in many recipes.
