Rare Breed Pork
5 April 2008
Geddes PigsThis month we are also lucky to be able to offer you some rare breed pork from a friend of ours who farms outside nearby Nairn.  Lorne has started to rear free range pigs in a closed herd of rare breed pigs on Geddes Estate.  The majority of the pork is from the hardy Large Black variety, although he also has Tamworth, Gloucester Old Spot and Middle White Sows.

All the breeds are traditional, slow maturing pigs, destined to spend their whole life outside, and unlike their modern cousins, mature slowly in their natural surroundings.  The result of this is a rich, flavoursome meat, with a good covering of fat.

At the moment we are only able to offer this on a limited basis but can be ordered on the usual way on our website throughout the rest of April.  Just select the products stamped with the rare breed pig in our online shop.
