At Macbeth's we are always keen to make sure that as well as looking after our customers, we also look after the environment in which we operate. The first step to mitigating our effect is understanding our impact and where we can reduce the carbon that we create.
We are working with Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) and the research developers from the Media Lab of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). They have produced a free piece of software which is under development and being trialled by a number of companies in the Highlands and Islands area including ourselves.
At the moment the figures that we are using are imperical figures gained from research by the clever guys at MIT but we are currently looking at making them more accurate.
The aim will then be to try and identify areas where we can reduce the amount of carbon emmitted where possible or mitigate against it. We will also be trying to benchmark ourselves against an industry standard so that we can measure our performance.
